PAC Money at Work
Each year, the PAC works with the school administration to fund various school initiatives with the money it raises. These programs are extremely important and go a long way in enhancing the school experience.
PAC budgets are drafted, in May, with input from the teachers, administration and parent feedback. Everything on the budget must fall within district policy and guidelines. The proposed budget is presented at the AGM in May and can only be approved by majority vote. As an example of where PAC money goes, earlier this school year Mrs Danieli was able to buy $900 worth of new books for the Fall and in February the school was able to order new Ipads using PAC funds.

Tree Planting at Lynn Valley
You may have heard that 2 of our new trees were vandalized in March. Dean from Absolute Landscaping Ltd. immediately stepped in and volunteered to replace both trees. He came with his crew and planted two beautiful trees. Thank you to Dean and Absolute Landscaping!!

You've probably noticed some additions to our school grounds recently! The PAC, along with the School District, Diamond Head Consulting, Tree Canada and Telus volunteers all worked together to plant 19 trees at our school.
Lynn Valley PAC received a grant of $3,500 from Tree Canada, and Tree Canada organized volunteers from Telus to help plant the trees with us. Keith Mackenzie and his colleague from Diamond Head Consulting sourced the trees and volunteered their time to show us how to plant them properly. Most of the trees were purchase with the grant funds, but we also had two trees donated by members of the school community. It was definitely a group effort!! The tree planting is part of multi stage effort to upgrade the outdoor space for the kids. We will be putting in an Indigenous gathering circle soon! |
